A boy reaches for a ball floating on an air cushion at Shenzhen Children's Palace on Thursday. The children's palace has proved a magnet for kids since the start of the summer holidays. The science and technology hall is seeing some 3,000 visitors a day and about the same number are taking music and art classes.
