Shenzhen to expand preferential treatment for the elderly

Shenzhen has decided to further expand the scope of preferential treatment for the elderly. Anyone who lives in the city and is aged above 60 (including the elderly from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) is entitled to enjoy the preferential treatment with their ID cards (or Residence Permits for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Residents).

The preferential treatment includes, but is not limited to: free access to public parks, public tourist attractions, public sports and cultural facilities, public toilets and public transportation; priority services in hospitals; preferential legal aid services from lawyers. All parties in society are encouraged to provide enhanced special treatment to the elderly, and these benefits shall take effect immediately.
