A round of heavy rain has been forecast to affect the city today and tomorrow due to tropical low pressure in the South China Sea, which was 450 kilometers to the south of the city by 2 p.m. yesterday.
The tropical low pressure was reinforced into a tropical storm last night and is moving northwesterly toward Hainan. It is expected to make landfall on the eastern coast of Hainan Island early this morning.
The city’s meteorological observatory issued a white alert for typhoon at noon yesterday, indicating the typhoon would affect the city within 48 hours.
Affected by the condition, the city will experience heavy rain, and even torrential rain, in some areas.
