The 2019 National Science and Technology Award ceremony was held in Beijing on Friday. Twenty Shenzhen projects carried out by 22 universities, research institutions and enterprises in Shenzhen won at the awards.
The Shenzhen-based projects won in three award categories at the ceremony: one won in biological technology, five in technology inventions and 14 in scientific progress.
Five high-tech fields were involved in the projects, namely electronic information, advanced manufacturing, civil construction, biological medicine, and resources and environment.
Fifteen of the awards were won by Shenzhen enterprises, accounting for 75 percent of the city’s total awards. The awardees list included big name enterprises such as Huawei, ZTE, Han’s Laser, Shennan Circuits, China Construction Science and Industry, and Unilumin as well as well-known enterprises within the industries including Beike Biotechnology, Zhaowei, Kunda and CCDI.
Huawei has won the awards for 13 consecutive years. This year, the smartphone giant earned three prizes.
