TRAVELERS taking the nine temporary trains to Shenzhen during the pre-holiday period and the 11 trains leaving during the post-holiday period can enjoy discounts of up to 20 percent, according to the operator Guangzhou Railway Group Corp.
The trains include K6587 from Changde in Hunan Province to Guangzhou, K6611 from Yue-yang in Hunan to Shenzhen and K6607 from Yueyang in Hunan to Guangzhou, between Feb. 1 and 15.
Riders leaving Guangdong on K6588, from Guangzhou to Changde, K6612, from Guangzhou to Yueyang, K6640, from Shenzhen to Hengyang, or Z4190, from Guangzhou to Zhengzhou, between Feb. 16 and March 12, can enjoy a 20-percent discount.
Tickets for the Spring Festival holiday transport season, which will start Feb. 1, are selling fast. On the first day of holiday ticket sales, Wednesday, tickets to some hot destinations were already sold out.
As it did in the previous four years, Shenzhen Lottery Issuing and Circulation Center opened a hotline Wednesday and booked 1,439 tickets in three hours for migrant workers returning home. The center offered 1,600 free tickets. The tickets for trains from Shenzhen to Nanchang in Jiangxi Province, Guangyuan and Chengdu in Sichuan Province, as well as Xinyang in Henan Province on Feb. 1 are fully booked.
According to statistics from the travel website www.ly.com, Shenzhen was among the 10 most difficult cities for getting train tickets home, following Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai.
