THE official ticket website of China Railway Corp., www.12306.cn, and its app will start selling train tickets today for the Spring Festival Transport Season.
The 40-day transport season starts Feb. 1 and includes a 15-day pre-holiday period. Railway operators estimate that the peak travel period will be Feb. 8-14, about a week before the start of the Chinese New Year holiday.
According to present rules, ticket buyers can book tickets online 30 days in advance, and the rush to book holiday tickets is expected to occur between Jan. 11 and 17.
Under the new schedule that took effect Thursday, Shenzhen North Railway Station will operate 251.5 round trips, particularly, 132 round trips on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong line, and 119.5 round-trips on the Shenzhen-Hangzhou line.
Guangzhou Railway Group Corp. added one single-trip and four round-trip trains running between Shenzhen North Railway Station and Chaoshan Station in eastern Guangdong.
The G80 Futian-Beijing train stops at only seven stations, instead of the previous 17 stations, on the new schedule. It will stop in Guangzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Shijiazhuang and Beijing, and a single trip will take eight hours and 45 minutes, shorter than the previous 10 hours and 29 minutes.
The former G78 to Wuhan will be extended to Yichang East Station and recoded as G1028/9, and the train G6501, between Guangzhou and Futian, will be extended to Foshan West Station.
