STARTING Jan. 1, 2018, Shenzhen residents can apply for temporary assistance if they encounter difficulties meeting their basic living needs, according to the interim regulations on temporary aid released by the city's civil affairs bureau Wednesday, the Daily Sunshine reported.
The regulations specify the objects, standards and means of assistance as well as the application procedure for temporary aid. Eligible residents can go to local subdistrict offices to submit their applications.
According to the regulations, the government will give emergency and transitional assistance to families or individuals who are unable to cover their basic living expenses due to accidental injuries, critical illnesses or other special circumstances.
Application procedures will be simplified for families suffering from sudden disasters. The city's civil affairs bureau will also provide corresponding aid to eligible vagabonds and beggars.
