WORK on Metro Lines 12, 13, 14 and 16 as well as the spur line of Line 6 in the city's Phase IV construction plan for 2017 to 2022 will start soon, sources from Shenzhen Metro Group said.
The Line 6 spur line starts at Cuihu East Station and ends at Gongchang Road, at the border of Guangming and Dongguan. It runs across Guangming New Area and will be extended and connected with Line 1 in Dongguan.
The south-north Line 12 runs through Shekou, Nanshan, Bao'an CBD, Fuyong, the Greater Airport Area and the Convention and Exhibition Area. In the south, it will be extended to Chiwan No. 2 Road.
Line 13 starts at Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint and travels north, passing Houhai, Shenzhen High-tech Industrial Park, Xili and Shiyan areas.
Line 14 covers Futian CBD, Buji, Henggang and Pingshan, and will be extended to Huizhou in the future. Line 16 is a regional line linking Pingshan and Longgang.
The projects are expected to be completed in 2022.
Current Metro ridership has reached 5 million a day.
At present, 10 Metro projects, including 128 kilometers of extension lines, are under construction. The city has invested 22.6 billion yuan (US$3.46 billion) in Metro projects this year.
