A TOTAL of 117 exhibitors from 40 countries and regions and around 20,000 overseas buyers will attend the 13th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair to be held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, the main venue, between tomorrow and Monday.
Booths for overseas exhibitors will take up 20 percent of the total 100,000-square-meter exhibition area of the fair.
Foreign exhibitors will mainly gather in Hall 7, the international exhibition hall under China's Belt and Road Initiative, and will showcase cultural products and local specialties.
It is the third year that the fair organizer has set up a hall especially for countries included in the Belt and Road Initiative. Thirty-five countries, including the U.K., France, Austria, Hungary, Ukraine and Poland, will participate in the fair.
It is the first time that Israel, South Africa and Imperial County in California of the United States has sent government delegations to the fair. More than 50 representatives from enterprises in Israel, Egypt, India and well-known global organizations will attend business-matching activities and promotion meetings. The organizer will arrange export-oriented cultural enterprises for the fair to stimulate exports and strengthen exchanges between countries along the Belt and Road.
Hall 5, an exhibition hall of culture and science, will attract leading cultural enterprises and digital innovative enterprises to participate.
Hall 6 for art products will attract art institutions and galleries from 12 countries and regions, including the United States, France, Russia, Israel, Ukraine and Canada. The organizer will arrange several auctions of modern art products.
Besides the main venue, 68 subvenues across the city will develop culture-related transactions, exhibitions and forums during the fair.
As the only international cultural industries fair in China, ICIF has become a calling card for Shenzhen and a trade platform for China's cultural products and projects, driving the development of China's cultural industries and advancing the globalization of Chinese cultural products.
The city now has 62 cultural industry parks and bases, covering animation, games, design, digital tech and printing. OCT, Dafen Oil Painting Village, Artron and Tencent have been graded as national cultural demonstration bases. More than 30 cultural enterprises have been listed overseas.
Statistics show that Shenzhen's cultural and creative industries have maintained fast growth momentum and realized 194.9 billion yuan (US$28 billion) in added value in 2016, an increase of 11 percent over 2015 and accounting for 10 percent of the city's GDP.
English service offered to visitors
LOCAL traffic police have set up a bilingual service to help visitors, including foreign nationals coming to the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, the main venue of the 13th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair, with their questions or if they are in an emergency.
They can call 8445-1468, 8445-1469 to reach the on-site police office or 8333-3333 for the traffic police command center.
Police won't impose restrictions on roads around the exhibition center for the cultural fair that will last until Monday. Vehicles will need certificates to park in the parking lots around the main venue. Vehicles illegally parked on the road will be towed.
Police plan to have 1,200 officers and 110 towing vehicles on duty at the main venue and 68 subvenues across the city.
Visitors are encouraged to take Luobao or Longhua lines, get off at Convention and Exhibition Center Station, use exits E or D and walk about 150 meters to the center's north entrance.
Metro riders can also get off at Shopping Park Station on Luobao Line and use Exit D to reach the center's west entrance. Private car drivers can park their vehicles at Xiangmi Lake Resort Parking Lot or Shenzhen Civic Center Parking Lot before taking the Metro.
Bus transportation is also convenient with stops on Jintian, Yitian, Binhe and Fuhua roads surrounding the convention and exhibition center.
The Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory reminded visitors to bring umbrellas as occasional showers are expected Saturday and Sunday.
The weather will be overcast with periods of sunshine during the first two days of the fair that is open to professional visitors.
MACAO has organizes 10 creative companies for this year's ICIF at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center to display their creative products and designs.
The Macao Special Admini-strative Government has participated in the ICIF since 2006 and has been setting up its independent exhibition pavilion since 2010.
A JOINT exhibition of 84 Chinese arts and crafts masters from 14 municipalities and provinces will be held in the Arts and Crafts Hall of the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center during the ICIF, sources from the Shenzhen Arts and Crafts Associations said.
The 134 exhibits include sculpture, pottery, embroidery, glasswork, dyeing, lacquerware, bottle-interior painting, thangka painting and handcraft pictures.
GUANLAN Print Industrial Base held an exhibition of 304 print products that were selected from 4,054 pieces submitted by 2,175 artists from 83 countries and regions.
The exhibition will run until July 15.
