ACCORDING to the country's labor law and the city's regulation on wages, employees who work Jan. 22-24 are expected to receive three times their usual wages for working overtime and twice their usual wages for working Jan. 25-28.

This year's Spring Festival holiday is from Jan. 22 to 28, according to the State Council.

Domestic helpers who have signed labor contracts with home service companies should get overtime pay if they work during the seven-day holiday. For those who do not sign labor contracts with their employers, they should discuss with their client families before working overtime.

Employers who fail to pay employees for working overtime will be fined 30,000 yuan (US$4,762) to 50,000 yuan, according to the city's regulation.
