Employees of the Nanshan branch of the urban administration plant a tree in Nanshan District on Thursday, marking the annual Tree-Planting Day which falls on Saturday. More than 1,200 public servants and soldiers in the district participated in Thursday's event. The district is aiming to plant 1.6 million trees this year with the participation of the general public. Tree-Planting Day, also known as Arbor Day, has been observed in China since 1927.
