The Shenzhen Municipal Service Office for Industry Associations is directly affiliated to the municipal government. It is designated to foster, administrate, regulate and provide services for local industry associations.

Its major responsibilities include:

1) to implement national laws, regulations, policies and guidelines on industry associations; to direct the drafting of relevant local regulations and administrative measures; to formulate relevant policies to encourage the development of industrial associations; to direct, coordinate and provide services for local industry associations;

2) to foster local industrial associations; to encourage their reforms and development; to supervise and regulate within its given authority their operation; to encourage and regulate their self-disciplines;

3) to direct and regulate the services provided by local industry associations to their members; to direct exchanges and cooperation among them;

4) after authorized by the municipal government, to act as the directing agency (as required by the Regulations on Registration Administration of Associations) for local industry associations (only including associations consisting of business entities in goods trade and services trade);

5) to improve the communication mechanisms for local government and industry associations; to encourage the associations to send the government with their proposals on making or adjusting relevant public policies, development programs and industrial standards;

6) according to the adjustments of government's roles and responsibilities, to encourage local industry associations to perform certain functions transferred from or authorized by the government;

7) to establish an efficient communication channel with local enterprises for better services;

8) to undertake other assignments given by the municipal party committee and the municipal government.
