The Shenzhen Municipal Administration of Sports provides administrative services at the same office with the Shenzhen General Association of Sports.
Its major responsibilities include: 1) to implement national laws, regulations, policies and guidelines on sports; to formulate relevant local regulations, polices and development programs, and to direct the implementation of the approved ones;
2) to direct the implementation of the Outline of the Nationwide Body-building Plan; to build a public service system of diversified services; to direct the evaluation of the national physical fitness; to direct the administration of traditional respiratory therapies (also known as body-building qigong);
3) to direct the implementation of the Outline of the Development of Olympic Games; to coordinate the relevant programs; to direct and promote the sports training programs for local youth, as well as to detect and foster talents among them;
4) to formulate development blueprints for local sports industry and market; to draft relevant policies; to direct the macro-management for local sports industry and market; to supervise within its given authority local sports businesses;
5) to direct and promote the reform of the development system of sports; to direct and supervise the work of its directly-affiliated organizations and associations; to direct district organizations in relevant affairs;
6) to organize local sports contests and other activities; to undertake major sports events as instructed by its governing authorities;
7) to cooperate with relevant departments in studying and formulating salary schemes and incentive policies for local sports team; to direct the employment affairs for local retired athletes; to direct the rewarding affairs for outstanding local athletes, coaches and workers in relevant fields;
8) to review the professional grades of local athletes and referees as well as the qualification of local coaches, and to submit the results to its senior authorities for approval;
9) to implement the "Science and Technology for Sports" program; to direct relevant researches, promotions, services and exchanges;
10) to assist relevant departments in making budgets for public sports programs; to participate in planning and constructing major public sports facilities; to direct the standardization work for public sports facilities;
11) to direct relevant cross-regional cooperation and exchanges; to direct foreign affairs concerning sports;
12) to establish an efficient communication channel with local enterprises for better services;
13) to undertake other assignments given by the municipal party committee, the municipal government and other governing authorities.
