The Shenzhen Municipal Administration of Intellectual Property undertakes all the responsibilities of the former intellectual property administration and copyright administration as the city strives to strengthen its protection of intellectual property rights.
Its current major responsibilities include: 1) to implement national, provincial and municipal laws, regulations, policies and guidelines on intellectual property (excluding trademarks, the same below); to formulate relevant local regulations, policies and measures; to conduct researches on relevant major issues; to formulate and implement local development strategies and plans; to establish a system protecting intellectual property rights and encouraging innovation;
2) to direct the implementation of the city-wide strategy for intellectual property; to establish a relevant warning system;
3) to implement preferential patent policies and measures; to provide services for the industrialization of major patent projects; to manage relevant dedicated funds; to direct the qualification reviewing and annual survey affairs for local patent agencies; to provide centralized management of awards for patents; to direct the work of relevant local departments; to ensure market order and proper management for local patent market;
4) to direct the administrative management of copyrights; to direct and supervise local copyright trading, collective copyright management, as well as copyright agencies; to review the voluntary registration of works;
5) to direct the administrative enforcement for intellectual property; to protect legal intellectual rights, copyrights and business secrets; to crack down patent and copyright infringement cases; to settle disputes involving intellectual property rights;
6) to direct international exchanges and cooperation of intellectual property; to coordinate intellectual property affairs involving foreign interests; to publish major information on local intellectual property conditions; to direct relevant public promotion and training programs; to collect relevant statistics; to undertake the routine work of the Municipal Directing Team of Intellectual Property Rights Protection;
7) to publish local patent information; to direct the development of patent information resources;
8) to direct and coordinate the work of local intermediary agencies and public associations in the intellectual property field; to direct and coordinate the district government departments in relevant administration;
9) to establish an efficient communication channel with local enterprises for better services;
10) to undertake other assignments given by the municipal party committee, the municipal government and other governing authorities.
